Growing Out My Roots is a collection of poems from the very beginning of the longest relationship the author had ever had in her life. In them I saw a reflection of a young woman on the hunt for identity in herself and her place in the world. An experience we all know and remember. The poetry allows for you to see the world through the discovering eyes of a young poet. To know you are not, nor have you ever been alone and to challenge yourself to consider not if you can fit someone else’s shoes, but could you gracefully receive and step into your own no matter where they came from.
